Renovating a bedroom can be both fun and productive. If you use the right techniques and materials, you can transform it into the ultimate cozy luxury which has all things in their rightful places. In certain instances, it can even emit a life surge.  The things that may come to mind when thinking of modernizing or updating the look of your bedroom may include an interior paint (preferably with antibacterial protection), a paint roller and/or sprayer, shutters and shutter hinges for the windows, and other home improvement tools. Some new furniture and appliance pieces will also inevitably be in one’s must-buy list. Before buying new furniture and painting, think of a theme for your room. Will it be modern, traditional, or Zen-inspired?  Country-style or art deco? Choose one you’d be truly comfortable with.

Painting the Bedroom

Use cool or neutral color schemes for your bedroom in order to create an ambience conducive for rest. If the bedroom being renovated is for your teenage girl, contemporary colors like lilac (perhaps with white accents) will look nice. Dark colors lend a romantic feel while bright tones like aqua make a room fun yet elegant.  Paint the ceiling, walls and floor the same color to get a space-expanding and beautiful effect. It will also contribute to a cozy, enveloping feel. If, after some serious pondering, you’ve decided to use textured paint specifically for your bedroom ceiling, here are the preparatory steps.  First and foremost, move away all furniture, cover the floor and have at hand a step ladder and your textured paint roller. If you’re using a paint sprayer, wear safety goggles. Using textured paints is a great way to decorate your room and exhibit your creativity. Textured paint hides little flaws or imperfections in the walls and ceiling. Some paints of this type may require the user to add sand or some other particles, while others are pre-mixed. Let the paint dry completely in between coats. Make sure you don’t leave blotches or miss certain spots. If you foresee problems specifically in overexerting yourself and straining your neck, get a professional to do your ceiling paint job for you. Ceilings are one of those surfaces a professional could do much quicker than a neophyte like you. For your bedroom walls use your paint roller, applying long motions from top to bottom. Apply the second coat of paint once the first coat has dried completely

Reassembling furniture and putting the finishing touches

When the paint job is done, the fun part of decorating begins. You may go for window blinds or curtains. Choose curtains and blinds that blend with the overall room theme. When hanging the curtain valance or framed pictures, or attending to other details of the room, it may be convenient to have at hand industrial Velcro. Even when adding accent rugs and knick knacks, make sure each one harmonizes with the main decorating idea. Now if you’re thinking of investing on new furniture, like a huge, comfortable and stylish bed, that large piece of furniture should anchor the room. As you decorate your room, maintain a consistent look so that you don’t end up like a bad furniture showcase. Happy decorating!
