Corrugated metal roofing has been used for quite some time now. Unfortunately, its misuse in different roofs and watersheds has caused it to earn a bad reputation. However, its modern types have characteristics that are far more advanced, giving it a high quality and a good look too. What is good about this type of roofing is that it is made of lightweight material which could be produced at an efficient rate, and so it comes with an affordable price. Corrugated metal roofs could keep put elements and they are also durable and strong. They keep the home warm and properly insulated and at the same time hold up a considerable amount of weight.

Types of Corrugated Metal Roofing

Corrugated metal roofing made of aluminum, for instance, is the top choice when it comes to residential homes due to its durability and good look. It is also affordable and it also does not rust easily. In addition, different colors of paint could be applied to this material and looks good without having to put on several coatings of paint. Now there are also those made of copper, and these are installed easily as they avoid getting rusty too. However, this type is quite pricey, together with metal alloys. Keep in mind though that roofing sheets made of steel are also quite expensive and they come in a gray finish which may even cause some problems once the owner wants to change the color of the material.

When installing metal sheets, the first thing you need to know is how many sheets you will actually be using. You can do this be measuring the roof ridge’s length in inches. Once you do this, divide it by 44 because this is the average metal sheet is actually this wide. After this, measure the distance between the top of the room and the edge of the room in feet and get this divided by six because this will tell you how many columns of metal sheeting you would have to use. Once you are done, simply multiply the two numbers (rows and columns) and that would refer to the number of metal sheets that you would need.

Now when it comes to the actual roofing, remember to start placing the metal sheet on one of the corners of the roof and not on the middle portion. It should overhand the edge of your roof for about two inches. When it comes to nails, use them with washers which are watertight so that you could secure each metal sheet effectively. About fifteen to twenty nails per metal sheet should be enough, just remember that the nails should be driven in the middle of the metal sheet ridge and that it does not bend toward the roof.
