Top Computer Repair Tips

By

According to a 2009 survey, more than 70 million American households own at least one unit of a personal computer. We all know that owning a PC comes with the usual glitches, headaches and heartbreaks. It usually doesn’t matter if your PC is new or has seen better days. Sometimes, and most of the time when you least expect it, you just have to make the trip to the computer repair center because it has stopped working. Worse, you end up paying a hefty price to the computer repair center technician for what looks like a very easy work.

Most Common PC Issues and Their Solutions

Viruses are by far the most frequent cause of computer breakdown. The key to keeping your PC safe and protected from viruses is to not underestimate them. These days, most viruses are contacted from the web, when you surf or visit websites or download applications and other stuff. The most common telltale sign that your computer may be infected by a virus is when it runs a program that you doesn’t remember installing. The most notorious viruses are those that come with pop-up windows that warn you that your computer may be infected and offer to cure the problem if you pay. When you see anything like this, run your anti-virus program right away. This simple precaution can save you from paying a big sum on computer data recovery service.

It is also important that you have a robust and updated antivirus program installed in your computer. While it may take up some bandwidth, it still pays to run your antivirus program real-time, so you get warnings while you surf the Internet.

Another frequent problem is the slowing down of the PC’s processing capabilities. A running antivirus program often contributes to this slow-down, but this is something you cannot give up for speed. In addition, you can deal with the other causes to speed up processing. To begin with, you may need to install RAM or memory. You can easily find out if your memory has been upgraded by checking some of three free online diagnostic tools available in the Internet. There are also online stores that offer RAM at low prices. You just need to search for these stores and then compare their prices. There are savings that can be had from ordering the part yourself rather than asking your computer technician to do this. Remember, however, that you should be able to accurately provide the RAM specifications. Once the memory has been delivered to you, you can call a local repair shop to have it installed.

When to Call for Help

There are computer issues that you can handle yourself, and there are others that require the expertise of a technician to address. For example, you may need to call an online computer tech support if your computer has a virus that wouldn’t go away. After searching for possible solutions in the Internet, to no avail, it is probably time to ask the experts to take over.

When it comes to the processing speed, you can also ask a computer technician to look at the programs that run on startup, and see which programs can be stopped. You can save on repair costs if you have this done with another service. Most local shops usually don’t charge for this very easy task.

Hi, great website – I really like what you're doing here.

Calling for help can be expensive and an easier and cheaper option is to learn a bit of PC DIY. Most people are more than capable of carrying out the routine and basic maintenance operations that will keep their PC running in peek condition and nice and fast. The trouble is that one they don't know how to do the routine maintenance and two they don't have the tools.

But, hey I do my own PC maintenance and, so far, I pay very little out to PC Techs. I do this by doing just 2 things (this advice is pure gold):

1. I learn everything I can about PC repairs off the Internet – for FREE

2. I use all the tools and software I can get for FREE off the www or which Microsoft and others have installed on everyones' PCs and laptops and again for FREE - it's all there you just have to know where to look.

Follow these 2 simple steps as I have done for the past 15 years and apply what you learn and learn by your mistakes and you will never be at the mercy of the expensive PC Techs ever again!!

Good luck!

Regards, Kevin Walker.
