Axial Fans, Axial Fan Blades, Tube Axial Fans

By

Axial fans are basically fans that have their blades constantly forcing air to move in a parallel motion towards the shaft from which the axial fan blades rotate. This kind of fan is used in for a wide range of purposes. They can be utilized as small cooling fans for various electronics such as laptops to the bigger and industrial sized ones which are often used in wind tunnels.

Types of Axial Fans:

Tube Axial Fans – These are high volume and low pressure fan lines that have a wide variety of sizes available that would suit your needs and preferences. This type of axial fan is suitable for use in temperatures not exceeding 250degF.

High Temperature Fans – These are high volume fans which were designed to be utilized in industrial convection furnaces. These types of fans are normally seen in either single-direction or bi-directional models. A high temperature axial fan is extremely tough and is often utilized in furnaces where temperatures can get extremely high, reaching up to 1800degF.

Vaneaxial Fans – This kind of axial fan have relatively higher pressure capabilities which are mostly due to the fact that it has got static vanes present on it.

Variable Pitch Axial Fans – This kind of axial fan has blade angles that can be adjusted manually. This feature actually allows this kind of fan to operate over a wider range or pressure/volume relationships. Its blades can be periodically adjusted in order to further optimize its efficiency in order to match the blade pitch to the various conditions in which it needs to be applied.

Variable Speed Fans – All of the fans that were described above can actually be used in combination with a variable speed driver. This could come in the form of a DC motor and drive, an adjustable frequency AC controller and a steam turbine driver among others. Potential power savings can be achieved if the variable speed fan drives are utilized for various applications that actually need reduced flow operation for a majority of its operating life.

Selecting the Right Axial Fan:

When it comes to choosing the right fan, there are many different things to consider. This includes various factors such as power rating, cost optimization as well as noise levels. But those are just a few of the different things that a person should think about before they buy an axial fan. Of course, one should also consider the application of the fan because there are quite a number of combinations that when done properly could actually give you the best performance at a lower power consumption level. As for efficiency, this would be defined as the ratio of air power or its output to its shaft power requirement which would be the input. A fan that was optimized to suit the purpose it is being utilized for would certainly require less power and yet produce the best possible output for your needs. A significant number of these fans are tested by the AMCA to provide consumers with the best; however, it should be helpful and beneficial if you could do a bit of research by yourself in order to find the fan that is well suited to your needs.
